Main idea: Duplicate login
This whole extension will be based on the idea that you log in to Sleuth Noir through this web site.
This web site will then sniff whatever you do, and present (some of) the pages from Sleuth Noir in a slightly altered and/or extended way.
This web site will hold a separate database, and use it to keep track of the additional content.
Team concept
I want to implement a team concept where sleuths might join into a team to work together to finish a new breed of hunts.
There will be different kinds of teams, and one sleuth might only join one team at a time.
Once in a team, they will stay as a member there until the hunt is completed.
Different kinds of teams have different maximum amounts of members. There will always be a "team creator", who is allowed to give the team a name, as well as invite sleuths into the team.
Members of the team accept the invitation to become a member of the team
Most teams will only be open to subscribed sleuths.
There will normally be no restriction of which agency the sleuths are a member of.
Single member teams will exist too, meant to be useful for AVH competitions.
Hunts
There will be different kinds of hunts. Some hunts will be in competition form,
where several teams compete with each other, while other hunts will be more casual.
There will be a couple of formats available, and each format will have their scoreboard, and scoring system.
Scores will be "calculated" real time, and for multi-team hunts, there will be a page for comparing the scores of the different teams.
How the winner is determined, and if there might be more than one winner, and what the prize of the hunt will be are all part of the hunt setup information, as well as how a hunt is started.
All hunts will be progressed by completing one or more predetermined "missions".
Some hunts might have more than one "mission" active at the same time, while others will be a series of single missions.
Missions
A database will be created of different kinds of missions that one might be asked to complete. It is intended that the missions be as varied as possible, and hopefully will introduce several new concepts as to what one must do.
It is intended that players be allowed to submit suggestions for missions to be included in Hunts. Each mission will have at least a description, and a defined way to know if the mission is completed.
As I become able to add different "mission completed" and "mission execution concepts", it will become possible for you to suggest new missions. I would be very grateful for help with the writing of text to missions, and for at least a selected group (asking will be a good way to attempt to be included) I will give description of a concept, and ask for help with the writings. A mission might include some pictures if wanted.
Example of mission:
Task: The librarian will only give up the information if you do her a favor: go find her some authentic Columbian coffee beans.
(Where can you find those? Figure it out! The coffee merchant in Bogota!)
If you were to try to submit a suggestion for this mission, you might create a couple of sub-missions
1) visit the librarian in London to find out that you need the beans.
This might include pictures of the librarian, beans, or any number of things.
2) Give beans to librarian, which might include another picture of the result?
The better the writings and pictures that go with the missions, the more pleasing it will be doing them.
Editors are of course also welcome, as writing is not my strongest skill.
Cities
As you might discover in the above example, I plan on implementing new cities...
Actually, I plan on creating a "City editor", to have users create their city of choice.
"Good cities" will be added to the places where your sleuth will be allowed to travel.
To get to Bogota, you will visit the travel agent, who can set you up to go to any city in the world. They will get you to cities that are added to the "extended" part, on conditions decided between the implementer (Irene) and the author of the city.
Each city has an underlying original city. For example, Bogota is patterned after New York. Because of this, the price of traveling between Bogota and, say, London, is the same price as traveling between New York and London. The only hitch is that it will have to be completely free to travel between New York and Bogota, because they are the same city. The same will happen if, for example, Washington is also patterned after New York. Then, it will also be free to move between Bogota and Washington. It will be this way until I can figure out otherwise.
New townies
There will be a new kind of "favors" which you will be allowed to do with every case that's not a Noir favor.
This will probably be primarily for new townies, or specific townies in specific cities? Not yet decided…
Hopefully there will be several new townies added to existing cities, as well to new cities (by you).
That way it will be kind of similarities in the difficulty of the favors one need to do.
New items
I hope that you will help me with creating new items that will be either entertaining to have or also needed to complete certain missions.
The items will need a picture (size is given by current items), and a description.
For the usefulness first place, the item will also need the ID of a certain Sleuth Noir item that it will "overlay".
This will of course also require special missions or other events where the "underlaying item" is changed to the "overlay" item. I guess you understand what you will then see if you log in to Sleuth Noir original? ;-)
In the future, I would like to create extra item slots. So that it will be possible to carry the pony with you without losing too much, even if the pony was needed for some special reason.
New background pictures
This too is something I have thought about could be nice. If you want it, tell me.
Start gathering pictures today
I have created a special picture server for you to upload pictures that may be used in the above situations.
When you have uploaded the picture, it will not be visible until I (or someone I authorize) log in and move it.
This is done by purpose of security reasons, and also because I want to make sure the pictures stay within the style, as well as I want to avoid certain kind of pictures not suitable for a site where also underage people have access.
If you have your picture, upload it on
It might also be a good idea to send a PM to Irene on Sleuth Noir to tell me about the picture, so that it may be moved to some place visible.
